Wheel Alignment

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here do wheel alignment on a regular basis? Is it essential and how often do we have to do this? Are there pre-defined settings for the car? I drive a 2015 XF.

Humm. Not usually.

When doing regular servicing or when tyre change, I just take a look at the tyre. If I see uneven wear (ie one side more used than the other) then I do wheel alignment.

Hope it's help.

Thanks. When you do the alignment, do you provide the alignment specs to the shop or do they just adjust it by themselves?

They will adjust by themselves.

Unless you are a sport car, and/or want special setting. Ie, positive camber. Etc. Etc.. Haha.

When in doubt, just say neutral, and wanted too have best tyre wear. Haha.

Keen to know how many services  your car has gone through ? have you got the alignment done out of turn or only during the servicing ?

most folks would do Tyres rotation only usually coz it's cheaper and less down time plus prolong the Tyres.

But if the wheels had major " trauma" like hit a kerb, going over potholes then might want to consider wheel alignment.

Also I think most of us park in mscp and that itself would increase stress on the wheels. many humps plus turning at sharp comers over a gradient daily is quite common.

Some shops uses machine that have specific settings for various makes and model.

Wearnes does it too but it's out of pocket.

Just need to look ard.

Thanks Dude! Think I'll do a wheel alignment when I change tyres at 40,000km. The shop that I go to for tyres has a wheel alignment machine.

Hi bro, you can go to Kenny alignment at amk. He is honest, better to call him to make appt.
Thanks. Unfortunately he's only available on Tuesday. And I got some urgent meeting on Tuesday. Sigh...

Does anybody think our control arm will be affected just because of a curb hit? I Google and it says if the car is pulling to the side (while straightening the steering wheel) it's likely the tire, alignment or suspension wear.

whenever the car is pulling the 1st culprit is alignment. save your time googling and speculating. Send it for an alignment check. After that they can tell you if anything needs to be changed due due damage etc. Go to Wei's Alignment Specialist. Comparable to Kenny. Do not need an appointment.

I went back to Autobolts first thing on Monday, and they have fixed my problem by doing the wheel alignment. They have also adjusted my DPF position to reduce the unnecessary rattling so all is good.

All these happened on a Saturday evrning so what else I can do other than Google and checking in to this forum, huh?
